Core Values 4,5,6,7

4. Fidelity to “the standard of genuine Christian Science” (Retrospection 53:5, Mis Wri 206:32):

Adherence to the tenets of Christian Science as prerequisites for membership in the Christian Science Church and foundational to the practice of Christian Science nursing (S&H 497);

Emphasis on the Bible and Mrs. Eddy’s writings as the “only textbooks for self-instruction in Christian Science, and for teaching and practising metaphysical healing” (Manual 34:4).

Deep appreciation of the purely spiritual nature of wisdom as the term is used by Mrs. Eddy
(e.g., S&H 116:2, S&H 275:14, S&H 465:14, Mis Wri 364:10);
Undivided allegiance to Mrs. Eddy’s teachings on hygiene, diet, exercise (S&H 185:6, S&H 383:3-20, Mis Wri 3:17-28);

5. The primacy of Spirit, which implies these standards of proper care:

Metaphysics outweighs physics (S&H 269:11);
Qualities overshadow skills and techniques (S&H 366 – 367, Mis Wri 268:22);
Spiritual wisdom trumps professional judgment (No and Yes 20:23).

6. The following rules in Christian Science: heal the sick, raise the dead, preach the gospel
(Retrospection 87-88).

7. A firm conviction that “in this final struggle for supremacy, semi-metaphysical systems
afford no substantial aid to scientific metaphysics, for their arguments are based on the
false testimony of the material senses as well as on the facts of Mind” (S&H 268-269)
